Start with the product
Include a product name or model, how many items need assembling, and whether the parts and instructions are on hand. Note any partly assembled or damaged pieces. For mounting, include the item’s dimensions and manufacturer-listed weight if available.
Describe the location
Identify the room, the planned position and anything that makes access difficult. Do not guess about what is inside a wall. Ask the installer to assess the wall, fasteners, load and the product instructions before agreeing to the installation.
Agree on the finishing details
Ask whether the scope includes packaging removal, moving existing furniture, securing furniture as directed by the manufacturer, or patching old holes. Electrical connections, concealed plumbing, structural alterations and work requiring a specialist belong with an appropriately qualified professional.
A few common questions
Can you recommend a mounting method?
No. The installer needs to assess the wall, load, product instructions and any concealed services. The planning tool is for describing the project.
Can I save the list without sending it?
Yes. Use Save a copy in the repair-list tool. Your draft stays in your browser until you send it.
